To promote listening, oral communication, self-esteem and how to ask a question, we are asking your child to bring one item from home so he/she may share it with the class. The item may be…
A favorite toy
- A favorite book
- A favorite story he/she would like to tell
- A photo
- A family member
Please help your child choose one item to bring and keep the item hidden away in his/her backpack, as the other children will guess what it is. You will also need to help your child prepare three clues about his/her item.
For example: My show-and-tell is red.
It is used for_______.
It is about as big as__________.
Please print your child’s clues on paper so that we can help read them. Also, help your child rehearse one or two telling sentences about the item. (Ex. I got it for my 5 th birthday. It’s my favorite toy.)
Although we emphasize being respectful of other people’s things, we cannot guarantee that an item will not get broken. It is probably best to send something somewhat childproof. Thank you for your support and participation.
*We especially encourage anything to do with our current theme or focus letter, and do not allow play weapons and/or action figures as they promote fighting-type horseplay.
